Privacy Policy
This policy describes what information the Equalizer & Bass Booster Android app ("the app") stores, what it sends to our servers, and why. The short version: the app has no accounts, collects no names, emails, or precise locations, and identifies your installation only by a randomly generated identifier.
Information stored on your device
Your equalizer settings, custom presets, UI preferences, language choice, premium status, and a randomly generated install identifier are stored locally on your device. This data stays on the device and is included in Android's standard app backups if you have those enabled.
Information sent to our servers
The app contacts our servers for four purposes. The only identifiers transmitted are the random install identifier and, for free-trial protection only (see section 2), device identifiers. We never receive your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or precise location.
1. Purchase and subscription verification
When you buy Premium, as a subscription or a one-time purchase, the app sends the Google Play purchase token and the install identifier to our server, which verifies the purchase with Google Play and keeps your subscription status in sync with Google (including renewals, cancellations, and refunds reported by Google Play). Verification logs, which include a cryptographic hash of the purchase token (never the token itself in readable form), your IP address, and the verification result, are retained for 180 days for fraud prevention.
2. Free trial protection
To ensure the free trial is used once per device, the app sends device identifiers (such as Android's device ID and a device fingerprint) when a trial is started or when trial eligibility is checked. Our server stores only irreversible SHA-256 hashes of these identifiers, never the raw values, together with the request's IP address. Trial records are retained for as long as needed to enforce the one-trial-per-device limit.
3. Support tickets
If you contact support from inside the app, your message is stored together with your device model, Android version, and app version so we can diagnose the issue. Tickets are deleted 180 days after they are closed. As with all requests to our servers, the request's IP address is logged.
4. Usage signals
The app sends anonymous usage signals, such as a ping when the app is opened and periodic pings while the equalizer service is running, so we can measure how many installations are active. An approximate location (country and city) is derived from the IP address of these requests; the IP-derived location is coarse and never uses GPS or device location services. Usage records for an installation are deleted after 180 days of inactivity.
Advertising (free version only)
The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and process data as described in Google's privacy policy. Where required, the app asks for your consent before showing personalized ads, using Google's User Messaging Platform. Premium users see no ads, and the advertising SDK is not even initialized for them.
Third-party services
The app relies on the following services, each governed by its own privacy policy: Google Play Billing (purchases), Google Play Developer API (purchase verification), Google AdMob (ads, free version only), and Google User Messaging Platform (ad consent).
Data retention
Server-side records follow a 180-day retention schedule as described in each section above, with one exception: hashed trial records are kept for as long as needed to enforce the one-trial-per-device limit. Beyond these, we keep no server-side data about your installation unless it is tied to an active purchase or subscription.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the data associated with your install identifier by emailing steelhorizonstudio@gmail.com. The easiest way is to contact us through the in-app support feature (Settings → Help & Support), which automatically includes your install identifier; or email us and we will help you identify your installation. We respond within 30 days.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the new version will be published at this address with an updated date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
